The Hampton Inn in Burlington shows a mixed bag of recent experiences, with improvements in cleanliness and value noted but significant concerns about dated facilities and inconsistent service. While some guests praise friendly staff and convenient location, others highlight issues with room condition and management responsiveness.
I’ve been staying at this Hampton Inn on and off for more than 30 years, dating back to my days at Saint Michael’s College, so I’ve seen this property through a lot of different stages. To be completely honest, my stay last year was disappointing enough that I had pretty much written the hotel off. The room I had then was in rough shape and cleanliness was a major concern. This trip, however, was a much better experience. I was in town for a funeral and needed a place to stay, so I decided to give the hotel one more chance. Thankfully, the room was clean and comfortable, which was a significant improvement from my previous visit. That said, the property is showing its age. The furniture is noticeably worn, the rooms feel dated, and the hotel is overdue for a major renovation. While everything was functional, it’s getting to the point where the condition of the rooms doesn’t really match what many travelers expect from the Hampton Inn brand. Breakfast was adequate but very basic compared to what many Hampton Inns offer today. It got the job done, but there weren’t many options and even the waffle station was missing. Overall, this stay restored some confidence in the property. The cleanliness was much improved, and for the rate I paid, which was in the low $100 range, it was a reasonable value. I would stay here again if the price remains in that range, but I do think a renovation is needed sooner rather than later.
My family and I stayed at Hampton Inn Colchester on the evenings of June 3 & 4. On June 3rd at approximately 9:45 p.m., My six family members and I stayed in a double queen room with a sofa pull-out bed, essentially made of springs in desperate need of replacement. We then asked for additional linens and an additional mattress to pad the spring-mattress (additional mattress was a cot mattress 2/3 the size of the other mattress). After making our beds for the evening, we were informed by the manager that we would be charged an additional $20 per night to use this mattress. We then called the manager on-call to inform her that we would not be using this mattress because of the additional surcharge. After communicating this to her, she responded with a condescending and sarcastic “umm… ok…” and hung up the phone without waiting for a response or saying anything else. My injured father, who called to request the additional linens, had a similar call with her earlier in the night. We were very disappointed with her unkind, curt, and unprofessional communication at the very beginning of our family vacation in Burlington. Our communication with her has incredibly tainted our experiences with Hampton Inn Colchester. When we find ourselves looking for accommodations on our next trip to Burlington, we will be avoiding Hampton Inn Colchester because of our experience with management this evening. However, the gentleman (we believe his name was Sam) who helped us with the additional linens and cot mattress was incredibly kind, helpful, and hospitable. He redeemed this service rating from a zero star to a one star. We are incredibly grateful for our interactions with him amidst our poor experience with management.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and up to date. But no exhaust fan in the bathroom. Have been noticing this more and more with hotels. Breakfast had a great selection and staff were on top of keeping things filled, even on the holiday weekend. Very impressed. Plenty of parking and there's a restaurant right next door.
I attended an event here. My check in was fast, easy and I had a couple of questions and the staff at the front desk was very helpful. My room was nice, bright and clean. The place was nice and quiet which I thought was a plus. In the morning, the breakfast was better than average I thought and the selection was pretty good. I will absolutely stay here again.
I asked for a 3:00 p.m. check out when I booked the room and paid about 50% more booking through Hilton directly to get this. I was told late check outs were based upon availability and availability looked good, so I booked it. The guy at the front desk said there was no mention of a 3:00 p.m. check out, but it probably shouldn't be a problem given that about 60% of the rooms were available. He could only approve 2pm and to check in the morning. I went down in the morning and the two women at the front desk absolutely refused the 3:00 p.m. check out because I was not diamond status regardless of what corporate told me upon booking. They could have at least said they would ask a supervisor when they came in and let me know. I called corporate where I booked the room and they wouldn't do anything except call the hotel who again refused. My wife and dog were waiting in the room and I had to cut my ski day with my kid short because of this. I understand there was snow but they had the rooms and made it clear it wouldn't have been a problem if I was a diamond member. $75 for a small dog is also ridiculous. Too many other good hotels in the area.
Ive stayed here a couple times now (multiple nights each time) and it was consistently good. Its located conveniently close to lots of great Burlington spots. Our rooms were always clean and the breakfast was always well stocked.
The staff is all very pleasant and helpful. Decent price, good breakfast, clean lobby and good facilities. Rooms are dated, carpets are dirty, furniture is old and in a state of disrepair. Had an extension cord running across the floor and into cabinet to power a pump.
This is a nice place to stay. They offer a hot breakfast with many choices from pastries and cereals as well as eggs/omelets and meats. Although we didnt swim, there was a nice pool in there that I walked by and plan on using during our next stay there. The staff that we interacted with were all very nice and helpful. Highly recommend to stay here.
I'm from VT originally and stayed here NOV 2025 while I was in town for a memorial service. Fifth floor room was AWESOME. Loved the vaulted ceiling - didn't feel like a hotel. Bed was comfy. Staff was super nice. Lobby was inviting and the coffee was always ready. Would totally stay here again.
We requested a two room suite from reservation counter. We paid online and then decided to call the hotel to verify that we got what we thought we were getting. Hotel staff said that they couldn't guarantee a joining rooms but they would "try and block off the rooms " to have them be ajoining at check in. So we crossed our fingers and as luck would have it , everything was just as she promised. The stay was clean and lived up to Hilton name However, on check out , somehow the virtual credit card reservation counter.com was using some how didn't work. The staff charged us for it in error (we had paid in full at time of booking). When I noticed the charge I called the hotel. Greg answered the phone, looked at the charges, I could smell the smoke from the speed of his keystroke and next thing I knew , I had a refund in my credit card statement ! Thank you, that was easy !
