Please read before you decide to book a room! We made a reservation at Hotel Champlain Burlington VT for our daughter’s birthday. She wanted to do something fun and hopefully swim! We arrived at the hotel and checked in. The person at the counter did not provide us with the direction we should head to for our room or tell us about the amenities. (No big deal) We navigated through the hotel until we found our room. Upon entering, we went to the window to look at the view (which was actually very neat overlooking the water). However, once we stood closer to the window there was water (condensation) running down the window; there was also a large amount of mold inside our room at the base of the window. We decided we would leave the room for a bit and check out the pool. (We only booked this room because it said the hotel had a pool online.) However, once we got dressed in our bathing suits, we went to the front desk to ask what direction the pool was located. We were informed the pool was closed in 2025 due to structural concerns. Disappointed, we retuned to our room to order room service for dinner. (The food was excellent—original Skiff Fish & Oysters). We set our dishes outside of our door assuming they would come through to pick them up. We woke up the next morning to go to the coffee, tea, and hot chocolate bar. We opened our hotel door; our dishes were still in the hallway from the night before (11 hours at least) and someone else placed bags consisting of vomit and garbage on top of our plates. Proceeding down the hallway was more vomit. Once we arrived to the coffee bar it had splashes/spilled coffee, and other debris on the counter and it was not freshly restocked. We went back to our room to grab our things to check out of the hotel. Upon exiting through the breakfast area there were crumbs and food present on the floor in several places from the night before. We expressed our concerns to the hotel they said they would refund us our money for our stay. Once home we all showered. My son immediately noticed a slight rash on his chest and neck. We took him to the doctors and were informed it was bed bug bites. We went home and decided to call the Department of Health as we were concerned about the cleanliness of the hotel for others. My husband made a call to follow up about a refund (as we still had not received one a week later). They were very rude on the phone. After a second week, with no refund, I made a third phone call and still have not received a refund. We do not want anyone to have the experience we did. We don’t stay in hotels often; however, when we do, we expect to have a clean bed to stay in, a friendly/honest business experience, and a feeling that we want to return for the experience. Unfortunately, this hotel has left us with a memory of mold, bed bugs, unfriendly, dishonest service and overall disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone—even if it’s their last resort.

We were able to snag a really good deal at this hotel. We did not take advantage of the onsite sauna but my partner said it looked nice! I’ll start with the great: The overall experience. All the staff were incredible. The rooms were clean, the beds comfy and the views incredible. Additionally, the onsite gym is wonderful, has everything you’d need for a quick workout. Improvements: This place needs some updating and I know that has been in several reviews. The cafe is very expensive, but if you get the breakfast credits then that will certainly cover a decent cafe style morning breakfast. Overall, solid spot and incredible location with being mindful that they are conscious of making improvements throughout the hotel.

We came here for our down time on a ski trip. Nice hotel and prime location downtown. Very friendly service at the front desk from Miranda when we checked in. Food at the hotel restaurant was great and even better service from Mr. Jesse and Gab. Thanks to all the staff for our stays.

I had high hopes for this hotel. Our lake view & room itself were great. Bathroom is small but doable. From there things change. There are coffee stations on every floor and on our 2nd morning there all the machines were out of order. The service fee is EXCESSIVE especially bc parking is additional and pool / spa is crrently out of order. We had gotten coupons for $10 off either dinning establishment. I used one at the cafe that serves breakfast. Their coffee machine was also broken. I ordered two breakfast sandwiches for somewhere around $24 for 2, subtract $10 = $14 BUT then there was a SERViCE on that and I still paid over $20. Dinner at the skiff restaurant was lovely and seemingly more cost effective bit again some sloppy mistakes…….. And to round it out, the gym and just the common spaces in general were dirty. Cups, towels, leaves, clutter just laying everywhere. I am not difficult to please but this place was a disappointment. Think twice if you respect your $$$.

The hotel lobby is beautiful and the staff at Old Skiff were amazing. The pool was drained which was not mentioned on the website. There were advertisements for winter cocktails, puppies and Santa everywhere but the actual event had no cocktails and the whole thing seemed like a corporate mental health event. I specifically picked the hotel for the pool and wanted to ask about the “winter cocktails” so I went to the front desk where I spoke with Veronica. She did not greet me- Anyways I asked about the winter cocktails (as were the guests next to me at the front desk) and she said “well did you check?” Yes. I did and there weren’t any. Then she said “well did you take a picture with the dog?” The whole interaction was weird and passive aggressive. I brought up the pool being drained to which she also said “well did you check our website?” Again- yes I did and it did not say that the pool was out of commission. It felt like a slap in the face when she asked me that the second time. After some back and forth she said she would “do something.” I also asked for the cleaners to make our bed since they only changed out the towels and she said they could do that after some more back and forth. It was like pulling teeth. Long story short- I came back that evening- bed NOT made and when I checked out the next morning the new front desk people informed me that there were no notes written and the were unaware of any issues that occurred. So after all that she really planned to do nothing. There were some other smaller issues like I only received one discount card for two people staying two night. I feel validated that other people had the same experience because this is the first time I’ve had to write a complaint like this. I almost forgot the cherry on top- I called after to ask about the bill and Veronica happened to answer the phone and I asked her why she didn’t leave any note or actually make any changes and she said “oh well I didn’t work that weekend.” Yes- she did on the weekend of nov 21/22nd. I couldn’t believe she is trying to straight up lie. Whole thing is weird.

Disappointing. We were looking forward to staying at the Hotel Champlain after reading some good reviews. Only in the final confirmation did I learn that the pool and hot tub were closed for renovation (no mention during the booking); I called the hotel to complain and was offered a reduction in the fee they charge for "amenities" - but asked instead for a room upgrade, which they granted. Unfortunately the 7th floor "Premium Lake View" room we chose (701) was small and shabby. The overall impression was "seen better days." The toilet/shower room was cramped and worn; the windows dripped condensation, and the room atmosphere was damp with an odd smell. The worn impression extends to the hotel in general. Service is fine, but it felt like everything is crying out for an update. I also was not informed of the coffee station on the floor until I read about it in a review and went looking. A nice offering but also looking tired. The water and sparking option is a nice touch. The restaurant is fine; pricey but decent. The cafe overpriced. A better value and quality in a hotel can be found right around the corner.

Very bad experience. Could not sleep the whole night, horrible noise coming from elevator. The hotel manager was not helpful at all. Bathroom is very small and the so called lake view was very disappointing as well. Location was good but was very noisy due to all other events happening in the hotel during weekend - wedding, conference etc. At breakfast they ran out of forks and they offered plastic forks instead. The breakfast tables are not comfortable ( they are lounge tables) and nobody came to clean the table while we were eating. Worst service ever! I would not recommend this hotel at all.

I would say this hotel is adequate. Nothing special, especially for supposedly being part of the nicer Hilton collection. The website and front desk staff said there was valet, but no one ever came when we tried to use the service twice. The self parking situation is confusing. You have to go inform the desk you want to park, then go in the garage, find your way to the correct floor that connects to the hotel, as it’s also a public garage. No breakfast included. Must purchase for $26/person. The Lily May Cafe staff is nice and helpful, but hotel staff was less than accommodating. Rooms are basic. 2 beds, small sink/dressing area, but the lake view is nice. House keeping does the basics, such as make the bed and give fresh towels, that’s it though. Walls are thin. We can hear neighbors talking and someone’s dog barking in the next room. Best part is the beverage pantry on each floor. (Which no one informed us about. We discovered it looking for a vending machine to purchase waters.) Overall, I would stay here again if I was in Burlington, but I would not expect a curio collection level, as this hotel is not that.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in October. Pros: Excellent location, close to the lake, Church Street, and many restaurants, all within walking distance. Beautiful lake view, the upgrade was definitely worth it. Clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff (especially the gentleman at the reception who spoke french and the ladies at breakfast). Well-equipped gym and nice swimming pool. Convenient parking access via P3. Complimentary coffee and water available on our floor. Cons: Breakfast was disappointing. The meat was cold, and the potatoes didn’t taste fresh. Some dairy products were left at room temperature, so we preferred not to eat them. Overall: I would stay at this hotel again but skip the breakfast. If possible, request a room away from the elevator, the beeping sound was noticeable at night.

I stayed here during the off-season while visiting Vermont for the foliage. The hotel itself was quiet and clean, and I liked that it was in a good location with easy access to nearby places. The café was nice, though service was a bit slow, and it also took some time to check in and get situated. One big downside was that we were charged a $300 security deposit, but it was never refunded to our account, which was very disappointing. On the positive side, they do offer a lot of rental equipment, including bikes, which is great, although the rental times are a little limited. Overall, the property has potential and some nice amenities, but I left feeling frustrated about the deposit and slow service.
